A vapour barrier is a plastic sheeting placed on the crawl space floor to slow moisture migration from the soil. Encapsulation goes further, sealing the floor, walls, and all penetrations to create a controlled environment. Encapsulation combined with a dehumidifier is the more comprehensive and longer-lasting solution, especially in Middle Tennessee's climate.
Is sewage in the crawl space covered by insurance?
Sewage backup coverage depends on your specific policy many standard policies exclude sewer backup without an endorsement. We document everything and communicate with adjusters directly. Even without coverage, addressing the contamination quickly significantly limits the scope and cost.
